Gearing up for competitions
Braving the rainy Normandy weather we have been schooling our horses this week. Xtra Authentic, who's called Jemima by everyone, has just come back into work after having her first foal Xtra Smart last summer (Chacgrano x Hermes d'Authieux). Jemima who hadn't been ridden the past ten months had to readjust a little but this week she absolutely showed that she's ready and up to the task!
Our young horses, both four-year-olds in 2020, have also been doing great. Loleska CH (Lola for short) and stallion Diagon Alley (nicknamed Tintin) effortlessly completed the exercises this week. For them this year is all about gaining confidence and making new experiences. They have jumped only a few times away from home and will be going to their first competitions this season in young horse classes, just to test the waters. Both Lola and Tintin show great promise and enjoyment for the sport which makes them a joy to ride.
Lola was originally bought as a brood mare with a great pedigree (Vagabond de la Pomme x Sheraton) but ended up quickly impressing the team with her attitude, power and scope. Easily being the shortest in the stable she makes up for it with her bold character and intelligence.
Stallion Tintin (Diacontinus x Tam Tam) still needs to learn to measure speed and approach exercises with more care and concentration. He is however extremely brave, willing to learn and his jumping abilities are well-developed for his young age. Tintin has an excellent pedigree, coming from internationally competing stallions Diacontinus and Diarado. He passed his AES stallion grading last October effortlessly and is getting ready for his first competitions this Spring.
